Virgin Coconut Oil for Beginners

Why is Virgin Coconut Oil so popular these days?

Despite the huge advancement in our technology, a teaspoon of virgin coconut oil still continues to be the most efficient and cost-effective way of curing and/or preventing certain diseases. Years ago, virgin coconut oil was popular as a cure for certain diseases like heart diseases etc. Today, people love coconut oil because it is more than a cure: it has become a healthy and multi-purpose oil that can used in health, beauty, weight loss, and cooking.

The Coconut Oil Miracle

The miracle comes from nature herself. Coconut Oil contains Lauric Acid which is found in human breast milk - which is the perfect food for nutrients, vitamins, and other essential substances. It has medium chain triglycerides (MCTs) which, when eaten, converts to Medium Chain Fatty Acids (MCFAs). MCFAs become your body's superhero with its anti-viral, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory properties which most advanced medicines, vitamins, or supplements can't beat!

Should Coconut Oil have a strong taste and aroma?

Coconut Oil, from a freshly harvested coconut fruit, should taste light and mild. While coconut oil was initially popular for its strong aroma and taste, more companies and health experts are leaning towards making their coconut oil lighter and milder. Why is that?

The strong taste and aroma of VCO comes from the process involved in extracting the oil. For cold-pressed VCO, the aroma and taste becomes stronger as more heat is applied. For fermented VCO, it is the fermentation process.

Centrifuged Virgin Coconut Oil has been the most effective way of extracting the oil with the least amount of processing. The result is preserving the real nature of a coconut oil's light and mild aroma/flavor from a freshly harvested coconut fruit.

Is coconut oil liquid or solid?

Coconut oil, in warmer temperatures, is in a solid state. Pure VCO should freeze at 25 degree Celcius. The more chemicals or debris is in the VCO, the lower its cooling point will be.
